So, so insightful and helpful. I really wish I had heard this ~6 years ago when my first started attending school. Even pre-school was a problem (huge crying, tantruming resistance). And I just wasn’t listening. Well… something nagged at me but I felt powerless to do anything about it.
Unfortunately, the complaints I get now are that we’re moving schools for the 2nd time in 3 years and my poor kids are miss their stable friendships. But I think my oldest is old enough now, too, that he understands that I’m FINALLY listening.
I listened to my child and we moved to cyber school. It’s been a game changer for him. He sleeps better and is happier. He does social activities now with no tantrums. I haven’t found a local public school in my area that helps my 2e child. He was seen as a problem. Now that he is in cyber his confidence is growing.
Valued not tolerated! So important.
This describes what my son needs and what I have been trying to describe to people, thank you,
