Private Twice Exceptional (2e) Consultations - Limited Availability
When you’re raising a twice exceptional (2e) child, one who has both high intellectual potential and obstacles in reaching that potential, parenting can be hard. Whether your child has learning, social, emotional, or behavioral challenges, there is a path to thriving. Debbie provides 2e coaching sessions to parents, both in person, in her office near Seattle, and online via Zoom. Sessions are held in the Seattle pst time zone and are 60-90 minutes in length. Child & Family Counseling - Currently Full
Debbie works with children ages 3 to 18, and their parents, using science-based strategies to shift family dynamics and bring about positive change. Common results include more teamwork and cooperation, fewer power struggles, better behavior and self-regulation, anger management, and more harmony at home. Issues may include oppositional behavior, ADHD, learning disorders, giftedness, social skills, and anxiety.
Debbie uses a number of theories included in her model, Positive Impact Parenting, such as Family Systems theory, Attachment theory, Positive Psychology, Tiny Habits behavior change, and Mindfulness. Debbie builds on the child’s and family’s strengths and capabilities in a way that fosters confidence, self esteem, self regulation and connection. She incorporates the work of many brilliant researchers such as Martin Seligman, Carol Dweck, Barbara Fredrickson, Dan Siegel, Richard Schwartz, Diana Baumrind, Stephen Covey, John Bowlby, Mary Ainsworth, Laura Kastner, and many others.
Couples Counseling - Currently Full
Debbie also enjoys counseling couples. She provides a warm and safe environment in which each partner can be heard and understood. She keeps current on the most effective strategies to improve communication and connectedness, control anger, and bring more peace to the relationship. She helps couples identify ineffective patterns and replace them with new patterns to help their relationship thrive. Common results are feeling on the same page, more intimacy, anger management, clarified boundaries and roles, and mutual appreciation.
She uses effective interventions incorporating strength-based, solution-focused strategies. Theories include Emotionally Focused therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Internal Family Systems Therapy.
